Lou: Thanks for these comments. I did not mean to knock archives. They are key. I only meant to emphasize the concept of "popularizing" natural sound as a part of larger natural history education. Regarding you audiofile point, I agree. However, the whole world seems to be listnening to MP3s these days. It is part of the I-pod revolution. Some of my good recordings are hard to tell apart between mp3 and 16 bit uncompressed PCM. In fact, I started loading uncompressed stuff on my I-Pod, as I resisted compression, but then moved over more and more to compression as time went by. It will be interesting to see how and if people respond to the posts here. GP |
