James, if you're starting out, I'd try to avoid NP-1's. They are ubiquitous= with pros because their form factor has been around for 30 years and there= 's lots of adaptors, chargers and specialized equipment designed to use the= m. I used them in various portable video recorders in the '70s through the = '90s. That said they're big, expensive and heavy. There are good reasons to= use them but if you're equipping yourself now backward compatibility shoul= dn't be a big deal. I'd look at sleds that hold Lithium Ion AA batteries. |
