I did a test using 4 kHz and 8 kHz tones at a distance of 22 feet (which is at least as close I try to get to birds to get a clear recording; I often get closer) and it showed only a 1.6 dB difference between having the mic as far back as possible and moving it to the optimum position, about 1/2 inch forward. A more distant target would only move the optimum backwards, so I'm guessing Klas designed it to be focused at infinity at the furthest-back position. What position did you find worked best at 100 yards, and how did you do the calibration? |
