Maybe this is old news but Location Sound announced MSRP pricing on
the new Fostex 2 channel recorder at US$599.  No idea if it's shipping
yet.

Sound Devices has announced the new firmware update will support flac,
a lossless, open source, compression scheme (2:1 is typical in my
experience).  Also on the docket is MP2 and MP3 recording.
