That Cavision pistol grip looks identical to the Rycote/Sennheiser
one to me (though I may be wrong)! I think you will find it is ( an
OEM product), so well done on the price beating !
The US retailers may have a loyalty to Rycote and their distributors
hence their rather cool response re this alternative product and
lack of willingness to supply it or stock it( ? ).I am sure some
people will be interested in your experience with this system as an
alternative.
Regarding sound recordists being 'snobby' about 'cheap' (
or 'cheep') equipment - surely
not ;-) !
