In a 44.1 KHz sampling system the highest frequency it will sample is 20.04=
5KHz, 2.2 times the highest frequency gives you the sampling rate. 2.2 so y=
ou get more than just 2 samples in the highest frequency. Also there will b=
e a brick-wall filter to stop any of the higher frequencies causing problem=
s. So if your ME-62 has any noise in the 35KHz area it will not effect the =
sound as it will have been effectively blocked by the filter.
Hope that puts your mind at rest.

I agree that I'm not worried about my ME-62 (if it is working c=
orrectly)

since the specs only say how they're supposed to work to 20KHz or so and

my MD and DAT digitize as 44.1 KHz.

So here's the question --- what microphones are people using with the

fancy machines that digitize at 96 and 192 KHz?

I understand that there are several (very expensive) measurement

microphones that cover the larger frequency range but the ones I've

seen, together with things like the Earthworks microphones, have a

fairly high noise level. (22 - 28 dB A or higher).

When I visit web pages of manufacturers and view spec's for all the

usual devices people talk about here --- none of them say how the

microphones work in the 25+KHz range.

Am I missing some source of information or must one just get a well

reputed microphone and test it?

Thanks for any hints.

Steve P
