Bernie- we were mostly on the east side of the park off of Rt 60 (the main
park rd). We spent the night in Whitney, and did most of our
birding/recording on Old Highway 127 (really nice, less traveled, good spot
for both crossbills, red-breasted nuthatches, and siskins), the Spruce Bog
Boardwalk trail (road noise a problem), Opeongo Trail (less noisy- wolves
were actively using this area too), Whisky Rapids trail (Our westernmost
trail- awesome- I left my recording gear in the car here...doh!), and the
Visitor center (across the road from the Spruce Bog Boardwalk. Best place
for Evening Grosbeaks in numbers. As you'd expect, and can tell from my Red
Crossbill recording with the footsteps, there's a lot of opportunity for
noise at the visitor center).
Drop me a line when you get back and let me know how it went.
Cheers
David
