I tested the SPDIF digital input on the M-Audio MicroTrack 2496 to verify if it does digital resampling or not. I can now state that the data transfer is bit to bit accurate, without resampling. This means that the MT2496 can be used to record from a high quality external AD converter. For example I used it connected to a CoreSound Mic2496 with great results.
