I'm in complete agreement on this, it's ten times as hard as face to
face communications.

I may be a very fast typist, but it takes far longer to craft a message
than to communicate the same thing in person. You have to constantly be
on the defensive trying to figure out all the ways people will
misunderstand what you say since it can be days, if ever that you might
correct the misunderstandings. I almost think some deliberately try to
misunderstand. A lot of times I don't respond just because I know how
much hassle it will cause for me. Or just give up on some discussion
that's gotten too high on the hassle meter. Just leave it incomplete.
On the other hand I'll never get to meet most of the folks I correspond
with, it widens my circle of folks to "converse" with. That is a plus I
value too much to avoid the hassle.
