Running the mic gain switch on high increases the noise a lot,

Subject: Running the mic gain switch on high increases the noise a lot,
particularly if you use the internal mics.

To achieve less noisy results, try using mic low or line in with "hot"
(high output) mics. One user reports the Audio Technica 853 works well
on line or mic low settings, with noise below -100db across the
spectrum at 25 gain.
