Pete, This is almost certainly the song of a Grayish Saltator, the so-called "cream of wheat" call. Anyone recording in Mexico or anywhere else in the Neotropics should join xeno-canto, http://www.xeno-canto.org , an organization with a huge databas= e of Neotropical bird songs. If you are a member (joining is free) then you can submit a mystery song and have experts give you an opinion as to what i= t might be.
