> 2. Is there a minidisc recorder i can buy with a time delay?
This would be a cool feature. There are a few flash recorders
(the iRiver H10 is one) that have a timer feature so you can
schedule recording from their FM radio section. Unfortunately,
this function does not work for mic-in or line-in recording.
Gene Dorcas is advertizing a Froglogger timed recording
system that uses the Sony Hi-MD minidisc. I don't believe
Gene has completed work on this yet. When it is ready,
it will be a great, inexpensive system for time-delayed recording.
See http://tinyurl.com/l96ma for details.
Gene recently delivered the first Froglogger systems using
the Marantz PMD660 as a recorder. The major advantage that
a digital froglogger has over the original cassette tape
units is that (1) the recordings are immediately available for
analysis (no lengthy analog to digital conversion), and
(2) the digital recorders have lower self-noise and can
capture a wider frequency range than the cassette units can.
