That is exactly the intention with it! There is no good way to equalize 
passively. If the rise is equalized electronically, then the mic needs 
phantom power. And if the membrane is acoustically equalized, you will 
loose the low self noise.
Remember that putting them on your shoulders, probably colors the sound 
even more.
