AEQ is a Spanish company that develops products for audio and video
production. The DR-100 is their first portable recorder. The target
audience is reporters and interviewers.
The DR-100 is about the size of a large cell phone, and uses a cell
phone battery. The recorder has ports for mic and line input, and
line output.=20
The DR-100 has 512MB of internal memory, and a removeable flash memory
card slot. AEQ chose to use a Smart Memory card, which is limited to
256MB. Perhaps because memory is limited, the DR-100 records in
stereo MP2 and MP3 only. USA price is $700 from www.bswusa.com
The Portable Audio Workstation PAW-120 is a new model that will
replace the DR-100. The PAW-120 looks to be more useful for nature
recording. This version runs on two AA batteries (or rechargeables),
and records in WAV format. Hopefully, AEQ has dumped Smart Memory in
favor of Secure Digital memory cards, which are available in capacity
up to 4GB. (The Transcend 4GB 150x SD card is available for $200 from
www.target.com, of all places.)
I can't find any information about pricing or availability for the
PAW-120. They may be saving the full details for the NAB show in April.
