This is an important environmental issue in Alaska, for those who do not
wish to read it delete it now.

These are more reasons to get this idiotic idea out of peoples heads that
you can safely extract oil these days in critical areas!!

Unfortunately, there has been another oil spill in Prudhoe Bay on Alaska's
North Slope-this time totaling at least 21,000 gallons! Just 3 weeks out
from the 17th anniversary of Exxon Valdez, it is a grim reminder of the
risks posed by oil development in the Arctic. The spill was first noticed on
Thursday, March 2nd, but workers did not determine the location of the spill
until Sunday.

This spill-one of the largest in the history of oil and gas operations on
the North Slope-makes clear that oil development still poses significant
threats to the environment. It is one of 400 spills that occur every year on
the North Slope and yet another reason why we should not allow drilling for
oil in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Please write a letter to the editor of your newspapers reminding readers and
your Congressmen of this threat. This is especially important right now
since Congress is debating whether to include Arctic Refuge drilling in the
2007 federal budget this week. Go to
http://capwiz.com/awc/issues/alert/?alertid=8547311&type=ME
to send a letter to the editor. Once you enter your zip code, it will link
you to your local papers and provide talking points.
