The Joby Gorillapod is a small tripod with flexible "legs" that you can wrap securely around an object. The gorillapod is designed to mount a small digital camera, but I think it might be used to mount a mic on a tree branch or railing. This might be useful for recordists who are traveling light and don't want to carry a full-size tripod.
