I went to Oaxaca on a museum tour for the solar eclipse in 1991. I
stayed at the Victoria. There's a large garden and pool there. I was
awakened by one of the most raucous dawn choruses I've ever heard. I
recorded it with my Sennheiser binaurals and a Pro Walkman.

We watched the eclipse from a mountaintop war memorial a few miles
away. I hiked down a hundred yards and planted my recorder to record
the ambience during the eclipse. There was a gust of wind.
