I sat back and read your e-mail 3 times; this is disturbing to say the
least!
I was talking to a fellow Brit the other day and he was telling me the
difference between the two countries environmental issues.
Green belts in the UK mean you can not touch them basically, Green belts
here is an award for progressing in Karate or similar. (I am joking by the
way)
I am staggered at the amount of attempts to undermine wildlife and habitat
in this country. This bill that passed yesterday in the house is a prime
example. Where have all the care mongers gone?
Your recordings will be all we have Bernie.
I must admit that most places I have recorded for close on 30 years are
still intact but since I have lived in the USA, I have a couple of biomes
that have been drastically altered.

Fully 40% of my archive (3,600 hrs) is from either now-extinct
habitats or places where the biophony can no longer be heard in any
cohesive way. That's in 37 years of recording and refers mostly to N.
America.
