The U.S. House of Representatives is set to vote on a harmful and
destructive national energy bill this week - we need your help today!

Once again, the pro-drillers in the House of Representatives have added
provisions to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil and gas
drilling in their Energy Bill. The controversial bill contains many other
damaging provisions, including billions in subsidies for polluting
industries and a free pass for water polluters responsible for contaminatin=
g
groundwater with the gasoline additive MTBE.

Although the Senate voted to add provisions to the FY06 budget resolution
allowing drilling in the Arctic Refuge, pro-drilling members of Congress ar=
e
covering all of their bases by attaching drilling provisions to an energy
bill just in case the budget resolution does not pass!

As you know, some 250-bird species utilize the Arctic Refuge for breeding
and raising their young - many are on their annual migration to the Refuge
right now! Later this week - likely Wednesday or Thursday -- the full House
of Representatives will have the chance to vote on an amendment offered by
Representatives Ed Markey (D-MA) and Nancy Johnson (R-CT) to strip out the
offending provision that would allow oil drilling in the Arctic National
Wildlife Refuge. Please encourage your Representative to support this
important amendment to save the Arctic Refuge!

Tell Representative Chabot that this Energy bill is no way to celebrate
Earth Day and urge your Representative to support the Markey-Johnson
amendment to strip provisions to open the pristine Arctic Refuge to oil and
gas drilling!!
