With 100's of Ridata DVD-R's in my archive, I certainly hope you are
right. I can't find where Ridata specifies the dye(s) they use in
their DVD-R blanks.  The Mitsui and Kodak "golds" John refers to look
promising but I could only find them in the authoring formula in
DVD-R. I sent in a few of inquiries to distributors. The NIST study
says inconsistency often made testing products by name pointless.
I've seen several mentions of the phthalocyanine dye/ silver/gold
metal combination as being "archive" quality. Like Bernie, I've not
encountered a disc corrupting yet, but if certain media tend to last
longer, as the report suggests, .50 per disc more might smart.  Rob D
