Steven,
I don't know of any site with really high quality sounds of cicadas.
This site has a large collection of species with recordings that are
useful for ID purposes:
http://insects.ummz.lsa.umich.edu/fauna/michigan_cicadas/Michigan/Index.
html

Lang Elliott and myself are in the final phases of a work that will
include about 10 species of cicada. Our recordings are digitally
mastered and of the best quality that we could achieve. If you have a
species that you are interested in from the above site let me know and
we might be able to get you a better recording.
Thanks,
Wil Hershberger

Could anyone in this group steer me directly to a
source of low noise, high quality recordings of
single Cicadas?

I'm looking for something similar to a species I
used to hear in the afternoon heat of summer in
Southern Ontario. Of course I have no idea what
it was=A9. except that it was loud, somewhat rising
in pitch and very intense!

This would be for use in a quasi-dramatic
production I'm working on. It's not a commercial
commission, but might be heard publicly, so I
want to be careful about getting proper
permission for anything I'd use, and I would be
willing to pay a modest licence fee if necessary.

I've found a zillion options in pay-per-download
SFX sites and Google hits - but I hope that the
expertise of this group might be able to save me
hours of downloading and evaluating unsuitable
files!

Probably best to reply off-list, as I suspect
this is not really of general interest to the
group.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Steven
