It appears that Marantz is planning to update the PMD 670's digital recording capability. The 670 is limited to 16/48 quantization (DAT quality). The new PMD 671 can digitize at up to 24 bits, 96,000 samples per second (one type of DVD-Audio). No word on other changes, pricing or availablity. it's a good thing flash memory is becoming more affordable. Recording at 24/96 fills up your recording medium three times as quickly as 16/48. Here's one source of information on the PMD 671: http://www.nf-concept.de/news.php --oryoki ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ |
