I'm still very new to this art/craft and am feeling rather overwhelmed by t=
he
process of moving from raw sound to final mix. I have about 70 hours of
material of all kinds on the one hand and a few ideas for cmpilations on th=
e
other and am getting lost between the two poles. I think I have a fair gra=
sp of
the technical tasks involved (for a beginner) but no real grasp of workflow=

I've also spent a fair amount of time cataloging this material and backing =
it up
(a never ending chore it seems) but after a year or two of effort I don't =
think I
have much in the way of finished works to show for it :-(

Do you have any advice on managing what you work with in each step of the
process? How do you preconceive a finished work and select, organize,
assemble, and arrange the material you work with on the way to its
completion? I guess I'm wondering both about the physical side (where, fo=
r
example, and how do you store the samples you work with) and the practice
(how and when, for example, do you "score" what you're constructing?
