thanks for the species info.

I guess 192khz is the correct sample rate.
Maybe the research people can answer with what actually works because
it appears that music sound cards even at 192 khz don't get tested
above 20,000. I guess these people were more worried about accurate
wave shapes than someone actually trying to capture ultrasonics with
them.  And as previously reported you have to test your cards to see
if the filter actually works up there as it is not a given.

Then the mic problem is that standard mics are not tested up there
either that I know of.  The MKH-800 is one exception but not a bat
recordists solution.

For use of non-specialty equipment this sure looks like a place to
play and learn.

As it happens, Rich, we (Bill Rainey and I) will be testing the
MKH-800 within the next few weeks on myotis (little brown bat). Since
it goes out to 50kHz, we expect to try it under several different
circumstances if weather holds in these here parts.
