I have been extremely busy of recent weeks but now I thought I may share
this recording with you all. For those who are interested in the laughing
gull sighting/sightings on the Olympic peninsula, I have a recording I did
on Sunday morning of last week.
There were about 4/5 gulls on the pier at Port Townsend mixed with
Glaucous-winged at around 4:45am, the day was just breaking when I saw them,
not unlike the description that posted on the Sunday
night. I was totally convinced they were laughing gulls when they started to
vocalize. Here is a snip of this recording. Apparently, there have only been
3 reported sightings of these gulls in Washington, so you could say I am
highly privileged!

<Description
The wings were dark gray right down to the extensive black tips with no
white at all between the black tip and the dark gray of the wing. Other
things noted were no white noted at all on the folded primaries, the black
of the hood was pretty much straight across on the nape instead of being
hiked up in back like the Franklin's. The eye crescents were much thinner
that the Franklin's should have been. Then they started to call, I was
recording (I record bird sounds)and got a clear recording unmistakingly of
laughing gulls. I have the sounds for your information.>
I used description of the bird when I reported this to
