You do not set a Q value per se, so I can't give you a number. The value
is called bandwidth, but is just a arbitrary number between 0 and 1
which is mapped differently in each filter. I expect writing to them
would get the Q values as they do mention that's what is being set.
Their manual does not give them.

At the -3dB level in it's steepest notch the frequency width varies with
the centerline frequency. For instance at about 45hz you get a notch
from 44hz to 46hz, at 1khz your notch is somewhere less than 60hz, and
at 10khz it's a couple hundred hz. (those eyeballed off the graph) Note
the notch narrows as you go even farther down, would be less at -6dB and
so on. Note that the above values are at it's narrowest setting.

Note the harmonic version. That can be set to as narrow notches as the
notch filter, or close to it. You can deal with a interfering sound and
it's harmonics in one pass.

I've not had the package long enough to do a lot with it yet. And it's
recording season, when I normally am not doing much processing. And I've
been spending a bunch of time on mods to the "new" Ranger. So, I can't
really give a complete report. Firium is even more tricky, but playing
has produced some interesting results.

On another front, TCWorks has discontinued SparkXL and all the sub
products around it, decided to concentrate on their other areas. I got a
offer to cross "upgrade" to Peak 4.1 from them a couple days ago! I've
sent email to find out what's going to happen to their sonogram and
other special vst filters. And told them just what I thought of offering
a lessor product as a substitute.

I'm hoping before the current SparkXL get's broken by Apple that
something better than the expensive stuff comes along. Or that bias
takes this as a sign to improve their product. It's going to create a
big hole in my capability.

Walt
