Hi Lucas,

I am also an amateur, and I myself had a difficult time looking for
the ideal parabola (cost/bennefit). It depends on how fancy you wanna
get, budgetwise. I ended up using a transparent plastic kid=B4s umbrella
(80 cm diameter), that=B4s why:

1) Big enough to capture most of the sounds you=B4ll want as an amateur.
2) Small enough to be used in the woods (not too dense woods, I should
say).
3) A very cheap alternative.
4) Transparency is very helpful so that you can see the animal you are
recording and point the parabola at it more precisely.
5) It folds shut very easily, becoming quite portable and handy.
6) If it starts raining while you=B4re on the field, you can quickly
turn it into a regular umbrella to protect your gear and yourself :o)

If you want, I can send you some pictures of the gear I set up in PVT.

*Obs.: Guys, am I wrong or the Sennheiser ME67 is a highly directional
shotgun mic? If so, it won=B4t need any parabola to work properly,
right??

Cheers,
