the magpie robin is quite a common bird in india, very
smart looking in black and white, and calls from song
posts which are usually visible quite a distance away.
in the second recording i posted the bird called
continuously for over six minutes, and stopped only
when mynah -another common bird here - literally
pushed it off the song post. after the breeding season
you do not see the magpie robin at all; it is a
lurker.
i posted the one with the jet because someone was
asking about how to record bird song in industrial
locations.

the bird stopped calling when the jet appeared to be
overhead. i live quite close to the airport, and they
cut the thrust down at about that point, so the
aircraft has become quieter.i noticed the same
behaviour several times, of the bird giving up on the
song not because of the loud noise, but of the object
overhead.
