For 8 years I have sent notes to Syntrillium both complimenting them on the
useful aspects of COOL and complaining about a FEW aspects I thought would
be easy to correct. I have never received verification of any of this email.
One of these is that the FFT Filter (which I use about 1000 times a day
when I am sound editing) displays the frequency HORIZONTALLY whereas
obviously the Spectrum displays it VERTICALLY, making what you SEE and what
you DESIGN-edit at cross purposes. Since spectra have traditionally (since
Kay Electronics introduced the Spectrogram in the fifties) shown time
horizonally and frequency vertically, why not swap the FFT display, at
least give us the OPTION. I also suggested physical selection of time and
frequency on the spectrum for more effective way of graphically designing
morphing filters. Maybe finally Adobe listens.
Now if they would just stick in a simple cross-correlation process that
looks for high correlations of a small sample in many large files . . . .
