I finally got around to listening to the grouse clip....and I can say YES,
this sound (and lot of other strange ones) are frequently heard when the
birds are active on leks...at least in this area of northeastern BC. I also
have some 200 yard recordings of leks but they aren't nearly as good as
yours! Cursed wind!
