There's a lengthy discussion about building an external power supply
for the Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 (JB3) here:

This is the "JB3 External Power" message thread in the "Technical

It seems the JB3 is pretty fussy about its voltage input.  One
solution that seems to work is to use a 12 volt power source with the
Creative Nomad 12V to 5V auto adapter.  Or purchase a 12V to
adjustable voltage adapter from a third party (it's a lot less
expensive than the Nomad piece).
