How much? too much; there is no need for a mixer in your current
setuo, simply connect the line-out of your MD to the line-in of your
soundcard, that will improve the signal somewhat...
If you want to do it right, get a MD player with digital out and a
soundcard with digital in. Personally I prefer optical digital
connections (optical SPDIF).
You might also get yourself another recorder with USB transfer
capability to bypass the soundcard, like the Sony MZ-EH1, but I
cannot tell you anything about it, maybe some-one else can?
