You might want to note that your link to my frog pages has a error,
correct link is:
http://wwknapp.home.mindspring.com/GAFrog.Toad.html

You have some extra tacked on to the link that causes it to fail.

In a quick look, a few notes:
No metering, just a overload led. The MP-2 has metering. A overload led
gives you no real warning. The MP-2 has a overload led as well as the
metering.

Does not appear to have limiting. The MP-2 has a fairly decent limiter.
With indicator led for when it's limiting.

No headphone monitor. The MP-2 has it's own headphone out with it's own
volume control. The MP-2, when being used with M/S is capable of feeding
a decoded stereo output to the headphones while sending the undecoded
M/S signal to the recorder. Thus making all the channel balancing they
have for M/S unnecessary as it can be done later. It was this M/S
capability that I wanted when I bought my MP-2.

MP-2 has two phantom voltages available.

MP-2 has a low cut filter with two levels.

I'm sure there's more, that's just in a brief look at it's literature.
It's a pretty basic pre.

It appears to have low sensitivity of only 10 mv/PA, which would require
much more amplifier gain. The self noise appears to be 17dBA, which is
moderately high for nature recording. Couple that with the extra gain
and you may see a lot of self noise in your recordings.
