I suspect each person would have a different list. All depends on what
you like.

Here's more or less my ordered list as of today, assuming we are talking
just the mics:

1. Telinga Pro V with DAT Stereo element. You can cover more situations
with this as far as call recording and do some ambiance. Stereo has real
advantages over mono. This would be a must for buying immediately.

2. Sennheiser MKH-30 and MKH-60. Mid side stereo at short to
intermediate range, good for both calls and ambiance.

3. Sennheiser MKH-20, a pair in the SASS. Short range wide field stereo,
for calling groups and ambiance.

4. Sennheiser MKH-80 pair. M/S and other uses, the switchable patterns
give a lot of variety, like getting several mics in one.

5. If I could find them, a pair of MKH-110's. For infrasound and other
low frequencies, also for the same uses as the MKH-20, probably in a
SASS most of the time.

6. A hydrophone. For covering underwater. I currently have a High Tech
brand, but would have to research which one.

Additionals:

7. Sennheiser MKH-70 or MKH-816 Long shotgun, preferably a pair, maybe
with another MKH-30 for M/S.

8. Sennheiser MKH-40 a pair, again probably a MKH-30 needed here too. A
basic cardioid.

And, all of that will cost more than $10,000 if bought list. In reality
if I lost all mics I'd not buy it all at once, and would do a lot of it
via ebay. Even if I had the lump sum from insurance.

Remember, all of those mics will need shockmounts and windscreens. Add a
bunch of money for that.

Walt
