This is supposed to compensate for the greater falloff of high 
frequencies with distance.

I suppose it depends on your belief's about parabola's. Theory says that 
they have increasing gain with higher frequencies, which would do the 
same thing as the diffuse-field equalization. Assuming that's so for the 
Telinga, then you probably won't want it. If not sure, try it both ways 
and see which you like.
