A very nice point, thanks Lang. I may have read about his stuff, but I
have never held or seen any parabola that didn't come from a lampshade or
microwave rig, myself, though. Mine were all home-rolled or junk-pile stolen.
In the case of the setup bulbs, they emitted light from all sides, but not
on axis (the wires at one end and the snub of glass at the other). So I
placed them so most of the light would go as equally as possible to the
sides and hit most of the parabola area. Had they "faced inward" the
pattern might have looked less annular and more like full blobs. I Dunno.
Since a tungsten filament naturally produced much more red than green
light, I used a pot to reduce the red and increase current to the green
until they looked sort of balanced to me. All very scientific!
