And there is just such speculation about the Nagra V. What happens if
ORB quits? My guess is that considering how big ORB expected to be that
they have a fair stockpile of both drives and disks to get rid of and
may have already stopped production. I don't see them on store shelves
anymore.

Actually I was not really suggesting buying multiples, just putting the
differential into perspective.

I'm not very hard on equipment. For now, my old MZ-R30's are backups for
the Portadisc. And, of course I've never needed them for that.

I've got this list of things to get when I win the lottery.  Once in a
while I buy a ticket just so I can dream.

Yes, it has many features that are unnecessary. Like timecode. They have
always been nice machines, but I'm not much closer to getting one than
when they were reel to reel tape. Even for a pro user they are kind of a
luxury item. Or maybe snob value. TV or movie production, where that
timecode has meaning, are it's intended market.
