I would say that you are having way to much trouble with this unit.
It maybe time to give up on this recorder other than for desk
playback and look for another.
I have not had any problem recording with my Sony minidiscs down to
temps at -40 (take your pick F or C) for periods of 80 mins. I do
watch the condensation when brought back inside and do keep it in a
small insulated pack when recording outdoors(for noise not temp).
Sorry I can not be more optomistic but at the price of a Lip-12 you
are miles ahead using the money for a different md. IMHO.
