Are you leaving them on long enough to pick up satellites?  Let them sit
there several minutes before taking a reading.  If I can get more usually up
here at the north pole you should be able to do better.

If I had a unit here could tell you how to do the averaging but they are up
at the U.  I think it is on the waypoint screen.  Where you get there it is
easy to see - averaging is one of the options.

My etrex models on only show 4 satellites which may, indeed, be the
problem, folks. Oh well...
