Hello all;
Rex Cocraft has done a great deal of work on sound through vegetative matter
but there are others too.
Richard Lemon has an article called SOME TECHNIQUES FOR AMPLIFYING WIND
HARPS in Dec.1994 Experimental Musical Instruments. It includes a mic and
pre-amp you can build. In the same issue is AELIAN HARPS: ONE MAN'S
EXPERIENCE by Tom Pearce.
Other information can be gleaned by doing a search of the BIOLOGICAL
ABSTRACTS for sources in other scientific journals. There is more going on
in this field than we think. Some names to look for are (in no specific
order) Andrej Cokl, Charles S. Henry, Kenneth W. Stewart, John C. Abbott, P.
J. Devries, and Randy E. Hunt.
In medical journal look for G. M. Pantalos. A lot of doctors listen for
problems - in their experimentation too.
This is by no means the complete list. Just some I pulled out of my files.
If you can read a foreign language the amount of information will at least
double. A lot of it will probably be of no use to you, but each article
will at least mention the equipment used and other pertinent data. Also
names of people working in the fields. With some time they can be tracked
down. I have never been turned down in my information requests.
Have fun.
Eric Schmidt - feverishly praying for snow on this obscenely spring-like
December day in NW Ohio so I can record a prairie dawn during a snowfall.
