G'day All, I have been involved in some night wildlife surveying on the Nth Vic Plains over the last two months (Patho and Avoca Plains) and have been impressed with the number of Fat-tailed Dunnarts seen. Without exception, those that were able to be examined all proved to be female with at least four young in their pouches. All were hairless young, and most of the pouches were now 'open' but some were still 'closed' with much more immature young. All sightings of the Dunnarts were on unploughed native grassland.
