Vin nice shots. Yes the Newport rats are R. norvegicus. The thick, rather stiff tail is clearly shown, and is not longer than head-body length. The muzzle is also blunter, and the ears shorter than in R. rattus. Hi, I took some photos of a pair of rats the other day at the Warmies at Newport, Vic. I think they're most likely the Brown Rat, but not completely sure. Can anyone confirm this for me?
