Molonglo Azures Update

G'day folks,

I hope everyone was able to see some lovely birds this weekend! I just sat down with the wonderful Gang-Gang newsletter and noticed my previous post about the Molonglo Azures rated a mention. Awesome!

I've revisited both locations a few times now, and am reasonably confident that these are two distinct pairs keeping to relatively small territories. Both the Tong's Hole and Molonglo Crossing locations seemingly provide ample amenities to sustain these Azures without the need to venture. (Slow-moving fresh water, riparian vegetation, plenty of low perches, vertical banks, healthy and diverse foodstocks.) 

Yesterday, I observed the Molonglo Crossing pair calling loudly before settling on the same branch where they engaged in courtship bowing. Roughly two hours later on my return loop, I observed one attempt to make a small food delivery to the other, only to be interrupted by a clumsy Pacific Black Duck landing. Definitely an area worth watching over the next few weeks!
