Chough nest

I'm not sure if the chough researcher is on this list, but they (and others) might like to know I observed a group building a nest at The Pinnacle NR this morning. It was just down the Bicentennial trail from the tank - I was surprised how closely to the trail
 they chose to build as it was busy with people and dogs. Perhaps it was because it's conveniently located near the creek where they're getting their materials?

It was wonderful watching them fly back and forth to the creek bed to get mud and grass and then take turns adding it to the nest. They also added some dry material as they went, gathered from below the tree. It looks like a brand new nest - only the base seems to be built so far. There were about 7 birds total.
