We’ve been having a great variety of little birds coming through our park at Brazel street Higgins and through our house yard. Recently we got photos of a couple of Western gerygone. Today I was a couple of metres away from what I thought must be a red browed
finch but I couldn’t really see the red brow clearly and the breast was different. It also didn’t look green but I thought that was my terrible eyesight.
A bird started calling when I went outside. Our ecologist who was home at the time didn’t get a great look or a recording. But he said it definitely wasn’t a red-brow but possibly a speckled warbler or a chestnut rumped heath wren. He is
not confident enough to call it so it doesn’t count but still it makes me happy to have such a thriving ecosystem in our corner of Higgins.
