Further to the question asked by Ben Milbourne on the Chatline a few days ago and then answered by Stuart Rae, Nik Froelich has posted a photo of the bird to his own eBird Checklist at  https://ebird.org/checklist/S278808812
The pic clearly shows the breast and the lack of markings, as noted by Ben.
And as an aside, Nik's photo also captures the chestnut crown very clearly - which is a useful feature to look for when learning to identify the ever so tricky shorebirds.

It looks like all the coverts and tertials are the same age, new, with buff edges and no wear and tear. So it is in its first year. Hatched this June or July.

Good evening

Was a joy to spend time observing a sharp-tailed sandpiper feeding along the edges of a small dam out at the Dunlop grasslands this afternoon.  Am curious whether this individual is a juvenile as there does not appear to be 'boomerang' markings on its throat, breast, or below (see video and photos attached).

The various observations made on eBird have not mentioned this.

Cheers, Ben
