This interesting post reminds me that a few days ago I saw a Hobby Falcon roosting in a tree near my home together with magpies and currawongs – all soaking up the
early morning sun on a cold morning.
The last (and possibly the only other) sighting I have had of a Hobby in my GBS precinct was six years ago when I recorded one overflying.

Subject: [Canberrabirds] Black Shouldered Kite sightings in urban Casey
Have seen black shouldered kites in urban Casey a couple of times now. This morning on the powerlines near Casey Pond. The previous occasion some months ago, it was hunting in that grassy paddock near the roundabout intersecting Clarries
Hermes Drive and Overall Avenue.
