I heard Currawongs making a racket in the back yard and thought a raptor might have attacked one. Turned out that a currawong standing on the fence had somehow got its foot trapped in the narrow gap between the upright palings and had fallen down the other side. It was hanging down suspended by the foot, unable to get enough lift from flapping to fly straight up and free the foot. Fortunately the foot was on our side so I just pushed the foot up to the top of the fence and the bird was immediately able to fly away. Looked like it had bloodied its shin a bit, but otherwise ok.

How extraordinarily clumsy of it!
