Talking to Lyndon last week about the vanished hurdles.  I found this from Jan 2013 that shows them clearly.  Rails and crakes used to dance along the horizontal beam.   The willow below A is the one near the present boardwalk gap, even earlier had its roots exposed to a view from the east, allowing a view of snoozing Freckled Ducks.  The one below B is the spoonbill nest tree.  The hurdles would date from when this was the home paddock of the Kelly farm. Their purpose is not clear.  Perhaps used for pony-jumping practice by the children of the manor, although the top bar would probably not be dislodged if clipped by the pony’s heels.  Perhaps something to do with marshalling stock.   Other ideas?
