I was on Mt Majura this evening and I was fiddling around with a new device to attach to my phone to record bird song (a little Røde microphone).
There was a male Leaden Flycatcher about 100m beyond the second dam singing and I was recording it (ree-itt, ree-itt &c). Then a plane taking off from Canberra Airport went overhead so I paused the recording. I am not anthropomorphising here when I say
the LF looked at me, and I looked at it, and both agreed to deplore the sound. The LR remained silent as the plane went over, just doing a few irritated churrs under its breath, and when the plane noise had gone started singing again.
Great experience.
